![]() It would be nice if the Size 20 would fit in that last roof beam bay. A size 20 takes a rough opening of about 14-13/16" (so might be juuust too big? Would be great if it would fit) x 19-15/16". A size 30 takes a rough opening of about 12.9" x 18", so that would work in the last bay (might need to check about fitting through that to get on the roof though!). Of course no problem in other bays, but it looks like that last bay can just barely accomodate the 14" vent hole between the beams.īoat hatches are often sized in standard numerical sizes. The rough opening required is 19-3/4" x 27-1/2". One thing I noticed (in addition to how tall it is on the roof) is that it is too large to fit in that "last bay" on a non-extended van. Plus handy to get up on the roof from the bed (no ladder planned). I like to just be able to open it and stick my head out, and to be able to see through it un-fettered. I looked it up because I'd prefer a hatch over the bed to a Maxx/Tastic vent and it looks like a contender. I have reached out to Hein to see if he makes an adapter for the Lewmar in the 24 1/2" 24 1/2" size. Have any of you installed a skylight in your Transit and if so, what did you use and how difficult was it? We have purchased the FVC roof rack and plan on putting 3 solar panels, the MAXX fan, and then either 1-2 roof hatches depending on sizes and feedback. Our dream skylight would be the Dometic Heki 2 but it looks like that is only available overseas and I tried to reach out to Dometic and local Dometic retailers with no foreseeable success. I did a search on the forum and found some great info like Moose's Bomar skylights and Hein recommending Lewmar boating skylight back from 2019 posts. We have purchased the MAXX air vent so we'll have that at least for a little bit of light. Which brings me to my question of a skylight/roof hatch option. We ordered our van with no windows at all besides the driver/passenger/front for privacy reasons and don't plan on post-installing any. We've been designing it through VanSpace3D.
